G'day everyone,
I'm Clive and I live in Kaiapoi, just out of Christchurch in the South Island of New Zealand.

I have a great interest in self supporting lifestyle, inspired many years ago through the British TV programme "The Good Life".

I have been involved in home hydroponics for many years and want to switch over to Aquaponics but our government has stranglehold regulations on what fish we are allowed to keep. :bash:

Are there any recipes for goldfish?

I look forward to learning a lot from all of you more experienced people.

Clive

Hi Clive..... Ahhhhh, the good life....

I watched all 3 or 4 series last year, was great to relive the show.

Looks like you can pretty much all of them on youtube.

Welcome from a fellow Kiwi, albeit resident of Perth for 30 years.

What's more I'm from the mainland - Waikato! (see - I got in first with the mainland bit  )

Looking forward to sharing news of your experiences with you.

Welcome Clive - hope you enjoy the forum.

Goldfish ? Not that I've seen. But we used to put a lot of small fish through a blender when I was a kid and the old man would make patties (rissoles) out of the resulting puree. I'll leave it up to you to tell me how it goes :yuck:

An aquaponic system installed in the Philippines was running on goldfish, evidently that is what they wanted to eat.

Yeah, does make a certain amount of sense, they're just a variation on carp really !

Hi Clive,

I know it can get pretty hot in Canterbury, but I wouldn't mind being in NZ at the moment. We're going through a series of very hot days in WA and I often wish I could 'summer over' in Kiwiland. The heat is harder for me to bear than the cold.
