Happy to have found this forum. We have been successfully raising chickens for two years now. Last year, I finally figured out that a lasagna garden was the best way too grow in this area. My tomato plants went crazy and took over everything. In the fall when we removed the leftover plants (for composting) one plant weighed about 100 lbs (without fruit). So this year we are doing the lasagna bed again but also implementing additional raised lasagna beds for fruit trees, vining fruits/veggies, etc.... We are also going to implement aquaponics into our backyard farm. Looking forward to getting to know like minded people.

Our goal is to raise as much of our own food as we possibly can.

Finally warming up here. Seemed like winter was going to last forever this year. Frost is over and fruit trees, and veggies are in there raised beds and containers outside. Ordered bare root fruit trees and all of them (in containers) are growing really well; except the pomegranate -- not a bud yet. Hope my banana tree survives dogs chewed the barky stuff off the outside (I know it was already dead when I got it but hope its not in shock and produces its shoots).
