G'day everyone. I am up the Hills (Mount Barker, SA) and arguably new member Katerina’s better half  . Just don't tell her I said that. Anyway, looking forward to all the good info I will get out of this forum. Have enjoyed BYAP for a while and expanding in to further food production with eventually breeding Muscovy Ducks, quails, rabbits and raise fish and piglets. I would love to get a goat, but don't have the room, so will have to alternate between the pigs and goat and see what we enjoy better. And not to forget about the bees, must have the bees. Well, that is the goal, so enough typing and more workings. Talk to you all soon.

Welcome.
Be nice to have pigs in the back yard. Not sure what the dog would do with them.

Welcome Gilly,

I'm just down the road at Crafers West. For bees have a look at this site. They also run a WEA course which can help in the decision on whether your up to keeping bees. Just did the basic course myself and found it very informative.

As far as actually getting some bees, talk to some of the hills swarm catchers (listed on council web sites) they generally sell them a lot cheaper.

Hi Gilly...

Yeah I love the idea of some pigs, free ranging foraging beasts that can be turned into ham and bacon.... Perfection.... :)

Yeah, was looking at getting some Saddleback pigs, but doesn't seem that easy. We may be on to a breeder of Berkshire. Can't wait to get some. They will be great churning up the vege beds between crops.

Some of the flock. The Muscovy Drakes and Wyandotte chickens. Still searching for some pigs. May have to hit the Adelaide Show and check out the breeders.
