Hello my name is Dominick Sciarretta and I'm from Norwalk, CT just outside New York City in the suburbs.

I want to take my gardening to a whole new level this spring. This year winter felt like it would never end. It's the second week of April and it is still fairly cold outside.

For two months I've been growing mushrooms. A new hobby I taught myself. It has been really fun. I want to get into more advanced gardening.

GOALS:
Growing enough to last me a year using just a small backyard.

Preserving food by smoking and canning

Raising certain farm animals using limited space for example I found a way to turn a kids play house or dresser into a chicken coop.

Become more familiar with hydro and aeroponics

Start teaching myself aquaponics

INTERESTS:

Permaculture

Re-using things for gardening like the dresser for a chicken coop

Discount seeds

Herbs and Medicinal plants

Mushrooms

Hallucinogenic and other inedible plants

Making new friends!!!!

 welcome on board, not too many active American members here but check out posts by Big Worm using the search function, he is pretty much the guru when it comes to being self sufficient.

What's with all those worms he's got there? Is there any other purpose others than fertilizer?

I think he sells them to other gardeners wanting to use them to improve their soil or break down kitchen waste into fertiliser but he may also sell them to bait shops.
