Do we need a separate forum for telling others about success in our backyard farms?

I'm letting you all know that I have now passed the 100 kg mark for tomatoes from two punnets of plants (grosse lisse and roma).

Must say I'm sick of the sight of them. I've made several batches of tomato soup concentrate, ketchup, relish, sauce, puree, sundried, and heaps of gazpacho and still given away at least 15 kgs. And they're not finished yet :duck:

Sounds like a great haul Granny Smith.

I think we managed about 4kg of tomatoes cooked down and frozen, must be close to 5kg of habaneroes now with heaps still on the plants. Maybe 1kg of birdseyes and for the first time ever mangoes, we've cooked and pureed about 8kg of them. We've run out of freezer space in our place.

When will your growing season end/taper off?

Over 100kg???

That's a damn good tomato crop from two punnets of tomatoes, great work.. :)

Did you have any problems with blossom end rot on the roma tomatoes? I have great difficulty growing them at my place, they always get blossom end rot.

Mine to EB, only Roma's in AP and Dirt, roma's taking off again in AP and no problems this time around with BER

I had BER in both AP, and dirt and in pots with potting mix... So have given up on Romas, There are plenty of other paste type tomatoes that do better for me, so I'll go with them instead.

Did you manage to find any 'Ezy Sauce' over in the West?

No blossom end rot in my Romas, but some sunburn on both types after I heavily pruned the vines. I also lost some to water damage when the reticulation broke through the mulch.

Tristrin, I'm hot on the trail of 'Ezy-Sauce'. One of my neighbours mentioned that she buys it from Coles, so I'll check them out when I'm in Perth this week. Only IGA near us and no sign of it there.

Forgot to say, that I have tracked down some Ezy Sauce, Tristrin. Haven't used it yet, tho'. Thanks for pointing it out to me.

The tomato saga continues with at least 125kgs by now (not exactly sure as I've given up weighing the b.... things. Still at least another 15 kgs of green ones on the vines. Several of the stakes holding them up have broken, so they're sprawling all over the ground. I'm thinking of pulling the lot out so that I don't have to think about them again. Or maybe, with luck, they'll all succumb to a fungus!

should be Slagtime forum, my tom's went fine but this crazy weather we are having, cold one day and hot the next is confusing the fruit tree's and the chooks and the winter veggies are looking sick plus 40 trout deaths so nocky's backyard is not the happiest at the moment

Good to hear. Let me know what you think of it when you get around to using it....I don't follow the recipe on the back, but make my own variations to it.

Nocky....I voted for your wife's new kitchen....I have to agree with her, she needs a new kitchen :sad2: Who is responsible for that pink wall??? Love the ornaments hanging from it though 8-)

Post subject:  Re: Bragtime

Thanks Tristrin, it came with the house  and the kitchen works, so not on my priority list but am helping her promote the comp, I think she is number 6 on the list now, so keep voting and if you know others that would vote please email them :D , the ornaments are all copper, she collects copper mainly from a long closed Tasmanian copper factory called Weeda, all is hallmarked weeda, and most from Ebay and lowest prices, it is going up in price though, we do find some pieces at garage sales, antique shops seem to be onto it and charge like wounded bulls, so we avoid those
