Post subject:  Frost protection
Put up some frost blanket for the Paw Paw tree in the soil. Not going to worry about it in the AP system unless I see any frost burn. The moving water tends to move the air around so it should be okay.

I don't go overboard with a lot of cloth unless the trees shows any damage. Its also good to know when you get the frost in your area so you can check on them in the morning before the sun hits them.

Are you in a bit of a valley there Duff? A friend of mine had bad frosts in an area just out of perth, it was interesting to see the experiments he did with making little barriers just at the top side of the hill next to the tree, this would direct the cold air coming down the hill away from the young trees. Worked a treat...

He was also looking at setting his retic up so that when the temp dropped below a certain level the sprinklers would come on to stop frosts.

Flat ground out this way. But it is funny to watch frosts move around. You can plant something in the wrong spot and the frost nails it. While next to a fence in a different part of the yard and the plant is fine.
