After having work done to the sewage line in tha back yard one tree had to be cut down for the bobcat to get in. He was nice enough to cut it off at ground level so I could not get a chain around it. And it didn't dawn on him to remove the stump with the bobcat while he was there. So to stop the tree from comming back and to speed up the rotting I put a small cage above it and have been putting a lot of cutting in it. Hopefully it will compost and rot the stump out. Nothing has managed to grow through it so far.

Hey thats a good idea, I have a stump of a conifer out the front that will be horrible to try and dig out. Only problem is that it's right out the front on the street next to the drive, might look a bit strange with a pile of rotting compost there.. |

Been using corrugated sheets for raised beds (and compost bins) years before you coud get them from B and elsewhere, not horizontally laid but standing upright. Sheets cut to desired size and stapled together. Can be made as big as needed by adding or taking of a sheet, also round, oval or kidney-shaped to partly wrap around a tree o post. If staple holes made to a template, (perforated bracing strip is perfect), you can swap individual sheets of the same size (height) between different beds to make them as big as needed. The staples have to be inserted from the inside. It allows you to open the compost bin o raised bed on whatever side is more convenient. Depending on size, use two or three staples per sheet side. noticed more smileys
