| Post subject: | Selenium what's the hype all about? |
One question that people want to know is what is the nutrient value of the food that we produce? Followed by a statement that our soils lack selenium! And where does it come from? I have heard this often repeated and wonder why people get obsessed by a statement and then look everywhere for the answer. After researching a little more we found that a healthy person will rarely display defficiencies in selenium and that it has been a problem in China and based on studies done back in the 1980s. |

Selenium is found in seafood so it would be in the pellets. Only need a small amount so with the food input and the dust that gets into the system it should be covered. |

The only thing I know about Selenium is that grasses do not require it at all but do take it up, However, Cattle Do require it, which is why cattle should eat grass rather than pizza ! |

We just got some locally produced fish feed at the shop and selenium gets a mention on the label, that is sure to make some people a little happier! |

Selenium is present in alot of the needling products that get sold where I work for new lambs and calves etc. It's found in cereals, meat, seafood etc and acts as an anti-oxidant which helps to prevent tissue damage cased by free radicals (apparently) |
