So here is a thread for anything you think has made your backyard farming endeavors rewarding or beneficial.

For me, one of the best things about growing your own fruit and vege is the seasonal surplus of various foods because, necessity being the mother of invention, you just have to find new and interesting ways to use up what you have grown.

In the last couple of weeks we have been breaking new ground (for us) in the field of zucchini, zucch bread, zucch spaghetti, stuffed, stir fried etc etc.....

Today's problem has been what to do with all the Basil that is now growing prodigiously - the answer? Lemon basil chicken apparently (tomorrow is pesto day...)

Last year's pumpkin surplus led to all sorts of interesting discoveries...

So anyway, for me, the best thing about backyard farming has been the incentive to push my culinary boundaries to undiscovered areas of tastiness and being able to offer my family new and interesting dishes each and every day. :thumb:

Tomorrow I am going to try radish tzatziki. To be honest I can't stand radishes but the other half loves them so I grow them. Plus its so easy and quick to grow. Anyway ill let u know how it goes.

Should try em in soup Bender, takes away the peppery taste and fills 'em up with soupy goodness!

It consists of radish, garlic, mint, lemon juice and natural yoghurt. Its not bad but the radish flavour is still a bit too strong. :yuck:

Cool looking radishes what variety are they?

As for the benefits I'm with Gazza, I like what produce I have driving what I cook, kinda the oposite of deciding what you want to cook and having to buy the produce.
