Does anyone have any?? I've been looking for some for a little while now and willing to buy sell or swap WHY...

I had globe artichokes. Are they similar. Still have some seeds.

not really, search Helianthus tuberosus.

got some from local greengrocer last year, not often available

Yep, thems the ones....

Have a friend that refuses to eat them because of the gas he gets. I love them, very sweet and don;t bother my guts... Well not any more than normal. :fart:

Just to add to this thread, Joel certainly must know more about those artichokes that you'll find in the Wiki.

Got fruit & nuts by Sussana Lyle half price from a book discount store
and after reading it I had to get her second volume
DISCOVERING vegetables, herbs & spices.

Planted them after reading about them in the second book.

As a school kid, I used to go help plant them along the forest tree lines and forest clearings
for the deers to survive on during the winter but it was never used for domestic
or domestic animal consumption.

Apparently,apart of their health giving properties, even fizzy (fermented) drinks, vine and liqueurs can be made out of it.

Everyone's guts are different.. :lol:

I've got an old book on rearing pigs and the artichokes were an essential part of their recommendations for successful pig growing. There were 4 crops they suggested planting for year round self serving pig feed, pumpkins, jerusalem artichokes, and two others I can't remember ATM..

G'Day Joel,

I bought a couple of Jerusalem artichokes from Tass1 on the weekend. $4 each.

You should be able to find some a bit closer to your end of town though.

Yep, they do have a great range.

Just remember they are only open on Saturday and Sunday :thumb:
