Anyone know if the fruit on the caper bush is edible?

capers (together with finely chopped capsicum and cucumber ) added to mayonaise = tartare sauce. we used to make it from scratch when I was a cook, and no-one died from it :)
hope this helps :)

 Hi Curnow, Capers are the pickled un opens flowers, I have eaten the caper berries (what you got) pickled in the same manner as the flower buds, so they are edible if pickled.

Yeah, made me look that one up, I was thinking that it didn't look like a caper that you eat.... Of course, the buds, not the fruit....

I just ordered a packet of seeds a few days back.
I have had the berries pickled in Spain as a tapas were quite nice with a cold sherry

I had a chomp on one the other day and survived, so I guess it's true. They are edible. I will let them mature fully and save some seed if anyone would like some. :)

No worries Simo. I'm not sure how long the caper fruit will be before they are ready but the Jerusalem artichokes have died off so they can be dug any time.
