Post subject:  Compost Tumbler

I've had a compost tumbler for a while but due to the fact that I put a lot of bread in it and didn't turn it, it became a BSFL home. They would get the buns and bread and head for the door when they were ready. I had a bucket under the hatch and would just empty them into the fish tank. Now I'm going to give the tumbler compost bin idea another go. I have a few compost areas that I never get the compost. I just keep adding. I have a few 200ltr black plastic drums(like the olive ones) with the screw top. I will put it on a pole if it works well but as it can also become a grow bed I'll wait for the 14 to 20 days and see what I get out of it. I will just have to manualy turn it once or twice a day.

I filled it with grass/dynamic lifter/paper/comfrey/hay/corn stubble and 9ltrs of fish poo. It was a real hard getting the top on. I was going to add some blood and bone but I think the dog has nicked it. Not sure what he's done with a 10kg bag tho. I hope at least he poo's under some of the fruit trees.

I have a really great compost recipe, one of the secret ingredients is lawn clippings added and closed up the day they are cut. The heat actives the contents and as long as you have dry material like buzzer chips to absorb the juice you are in business. Turn 10 rotations per day for 10 days. Bobs your uncle.
