I just made a compost pile and was wondering how long until much of it breaks down into usable material for fertilizer? |

Hard to say. If it has plenty of nitrogen and you turn it regularly it will mature quickly, if you leave it anaerobic then it will be slower. Basically, it will be ready when it has a nice earthy smell. |

I can do 2 weeks in a compost tumbler but 6 months in compost pile :grin: |

It also depends on the size of the particles you are composting. The smaller the better as this means more surface area for the microbes to do their stuff |
