I made up a 600ltr tub as a wicking bed. The bottom is just a big coil of ag pipe. In the smaller beds I put in extra PVC pipes as water storage or upside down plastic containers. Dirt or gravel as filler.

G'Day Gang,
I came across the Earthbox discussion on the AP forum http://www.backyardaquaponics.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=7612&p=239743&hilit=Global+Bucket#p239743 and thought I might have a go at doing one with an IBC.

It is basically a wicking bed with a different water reservoir.
The failed wicking bed had a problem with brittle top part of the IBC so with this method it should help support the dodgy top bit.

G'Day Gang,
An update to the earth box system.

This corn was planted from seed and had 100% germination. :)

The beans and basil have been in for 4 weeks and were direct seeded.

This is a volunteer tomatoe that germinated in July. I thought it would not survive the cold but it hung in and is the best tomatoe we have grown. :duck:
It seems to be a truss type and is very good tasting.
