A shed expansion is already planned even though the first shed isn't built yet.

Then the house will be built. Total roof space then should be about 720sqm.

The tractor is what is giving the frame strength. It is currently attached with a couple of ratchet straps which held up to some very strong gusts of wind over the weekend.

Looking good, amazing how flimsy these sheds are till they are sheeted off. The tin gives a huge amount of strength.

Long time no update......

I have been given some trees to plant:

There is nearly 5000 of them.

Most of them Melaleuca hamata (~3500). There is also Atriplex nummularia (320), Atriplex semibaccata (320), Callistemon phoeniceus (384) and Eucalyptus loxophleba (128), plus some others.

I am meant to be planting them this weekend, but I have hurt my back (ironically trying to plant some other trees last weekend with a hand planter).

I wont be using a hand planter for this lot. I have one of these instead:

Nice work arbe. Hope your back is ok. Those trees will be in the ground in no time with that planter.

Charlie - I'm guessing those trees are to protect arable land against salinity and also provide wildlife habitat/corridors and wind breaks.

How did you get given 5000 tube stock Arbe?

How is the shed/ block coming along?

Country living is treating us all pretty good. Back is on the mend.

Shed is pretty much finished. Just needs gutters and concrete floor poured in two bays. That will be done when the house slab is poured (which is hopefully soon).

We have about 20 hectares of land which is currently not arable, much of it towards a salt lake. With these trees we hope we can reclaim some of it in years to come. After running the tree planter through it today (planted about 2000 trees) the soil below looks pretty good.

The trees have been given to us via a grant from Wheatbelt Natural Resource Management. Due to the lateness in planning all this and planting we will be receiving more trees next year to replant where these may not take. Having said that there was a good amount if moisture in the soil so they should be fine.

With next years seedlings we plan to run a wind break around the property and then some alleys through the arable land. Our aim is to stop weed seeds from being blown on to the property which should mean we don't need to spray. It will also prevent wind and water erosion.
