Next task is to build the shed (which will be located to the left of the tank) so I can put my tractor in it and plumb the gutters into the water tank: Me driving: Attachment: Me Driving (Small).jpeg [ 63.99 KiB | Viewed 34878 times ] Teaching my better half how to operate it: Attachment: Lorraine Driving (Small).jpeg [ 51.75 KiB | Viewed 34878 times ] I am now on the look out for a combine seeder so I can put in my own crop next year. Something like this: Attachment: seeder.jpg [ 13.41 KiB | Viewed 34878 times ] If any one knows of one for sale or laying around doing nothing which is in good condition PM me. |

Very cool, great to see you progressing, you have been a patient man Love your tractor, you need a front end loader added to it. Basic combine seeders come up pretty often on gumtree if you keep an eye out. Also worth putting up a wanted advert at the nearest IGA. |

Looks to be a bargain if you don't mind giving it a clean up. http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/wundowie ... 1018833395 |

Burnsy: I am looking for a second, smaller tractor with front end loader. Not sure that is a bargain combine. Looks like it has been kept out in the weather all it's life. I'm not in that much if a rush as I don't need it till next year. |

I'm not in that much if a rush as I don't need it till next year. They are pretty basic and it could be worth looking at considering they sell for around $10000. If the internals are all funtional it may be that it just needs blasting and repainting and the pipes and boots replacing. Even the points are probably OK. |

Good sized tank mate, are you going to get one for drinking water too? Not really backyard farming, more farming for real, how much land do you have, where is it (Cunderden I think?) and what are your plans with it? |

Simo, You are close. Location is approximately 15km east of Goomalling/7km west if Dowerin. All up there is 150acres with 100 of that arable. Although, as you say it's not backyard farming, we plan to do lots of backyard farming around the house with veggie garden, orchard, AP system, chickens, bees and what ever else we can fit in (time wise). The rest of the land will be cropped, most likely under a lupin, wheat, oat, fallow rotation (am looking for another 300 acres I can lease for next year). I will be trying to be as organic as possible - probably transition into it over a few years. A second tank will be installed if I can over fill this one. That will require a lot of roof space when the area averages 370mm of rain per year. Burnsy, I like this combine: http://cockymart.com.au/details.php?id=3505 It's in good condition, been stored in a shed when not in use and is a reasonable price. Problem is it is a long way from my place and are troublesome to relocate. I'm in no rush as I don't need it until early next year. Will use your suggestion of putting an ad in the local IGA. |
