I've got 4(maybe 5) different Fig trees in. Was very surprised at how early they bare fruit. One tree is only 40cm high and I picked 2 figs off it yesterday. Nice taste, shared then with the dog. Will have to stop doing that. Have to keep dog away from corn now he's worked out its nice to eat. Was told the brown is the best tasting so it was planted in the deep dug bed next to the back door.

I love figs, they grow so well and once established they require no care. Fruit so much that you just share with the birds. They do have very invasive and damaging roots once they get onto a water source so avoid planting near any plumbing like sepitic tanks and leach drains. |

My fig tree has done pretty well considering that it's in an area of the yard that gets no water from sprinklers. This year I've had a pretty good crop of fruit considering the size of the tree. Damn birds have been getting a lot of fruit as well. I found out what birds were eating them too, crows..!!!  Only one fruit so far that looked like it had fruit fly or similar, I'm making sure I don;t leave any fruit on the ground, though between the birds, mice and myself there's not much chance of anything rotting on the ground. Good - mine's in about the driest spot on the block. Hasn't fruited yet, but then it's not much larger than Duff's. Will have to remember about the fruit fly risk - all figs on the ground will go to the perpetually hungry BSF. |

unanimous, mine is near the lemon tree and only gets watered when we remember, which is not often, but I hate figs and so do our birds

Your birds hate figs????? wow, wish mine hated them.. I just love the fig tree because it's a staple that won't die in the crappiest of conditions, a bit like olives and pomegranates. |

apparently EB, they seem to eat everything else except figs, tree is loaded atm, maybe because the BSF pod is next to fig tree, the pod appears to repel everything

This is the same fig tree as the first post. Still about the same height but has fruit now.
