Anyone got any tips on how to prune a blueberry bush. We received a large quantity of fruit this year, but it was small compared to the size of fruit you can by in the stores.

I would like to know where they grow best aspect wise and what variety as well while you are all at it. Been thinking about them for a few seasons now.

I have only just planted my first two Blueberry this year so I will be no help on the pruning issue but I went to this place on WA south coast where they seem to have mastered the art of growing them, website might have some useful tips.

Burnsy, I bought mine for Tass1trees, he has a variety that apparently is perfectly suited to WA, All I know is they like acidic soil so I built some berry beds for all my acid lovers and mulched with pine needles which are apparently acidic. Beds have blueberry, youngberry, boisenberry, strawberry, goji berry and midyim berry (native) so far they all seem to be doing well in full sun, but I think all berries can handle part shade but as usual I would avoid under a big eucalypt.

I think blueberries dont mind a good pruning. Mine gets more fruit each year but is very leggy so could do with a prune to make it more bushy. Great plants. Anyone needing Boysenberry plant just pm me. Will have Youngberry soon also. Perth area only. Free :joy:

Have you tried growing the bliueberry cuttings seamonkey? WOndering if they need grafting or whether they will do ok as a cutting. My old grapes are fine and they were just cuttings.

Ooo! I never thought about that. I have some Clonex so might try striking it after pruning :thumb:

Here is an article that I think might be of use:

It looks to be a really complete resource for blueberry pruning. You have almost got me excited enough to think about taking on the challenge (especially when I see the price at the shops).

I have to thank my favourite landscape gardener for the heads up on the resource.
