Hi all, I've run into a problem with my veggie patch, nearly every plant I pull up has root-knot which I'm told is caused by Nematodes, I've looked for a solution on the Internet but all I've found are chemical treatments which I'm dead against, and a reference to using Molasses to kill the Nematodes, has anyone here ever heard of this and if so does it work? |

Water in some diluted molasses. Plant marigolds and green manure of mustard in the colder months dug in. |

No but the brown part of the sugar is molasses so it makes sense If you live somewhere rural a produce store they sell molasses pretty cheap as an animal tonic and you dont need much depending on how much garden you have. Maybe a pet shop might have it. or get it in the a supermarket in the baking section but its way more expensive Its not just good for nematodes molasses is great for soil bacteria and trace elements. I water my garden with molasses regularly. |

You can also use it to clean old rusty iron tools you want to repair such as hoes, axes and shovels. Will eat the rust but not the steel. |

Add rusty nails to ground around yellow leafed plant, water with molasses cheaper than buying chelated iron from the nursery http://www.yates.com.au/products/fertil ... ated-iron/ |

Thanks guys, I think I'll pinch some of the wife's brown sugar and give that a go first and if that doesn't work I'll get the Molasses. |
