Is it a type of lerp or something like that? It is covering most leaves on one particular branch of a very young grevillea (I think). Obviously bad, but not sure what it is! The photo by the way was taken through a magnifying glass!!

Could it be mealy bugs? I have never looked at them up close but know that when you squash them, they kind of roll up like they are made of cotton wool. |

That was magnified as much as possible! they are about 2mm long at the most. I watched them under the magnifying glass for a while and couldn't see movement. Each leaf on one branch of the bush has them on it, but the leaves don't look eaten. I don't think they are caterpillars because they don't just pick off or brush off. The leaves do look paler, but I am not sure if that is because of the white things on them or if they have done sap sucking perhaps that has paled the leaves. So...I really don't know!! |

Hm, I hadn't initially thought of eggs- we have a bit of scale and mealybugs on a wattle and the blackboys at the moment and was thinking along those lines. I might keep a sample in a container and OBSERVE closely!! |

I've see it heaps on eucalyptus leaves like yours, I don't really know what it is but it never seems to harm the tree. I have always thought that they were a home built by a leaf borer larve before it hatches out |
