I've never had a problem with fruit fy in tomatoes, if they arelarge tomatoes you cold try exclusion bagging with paper bags but ultimately it is your responsibility to kill as many of the little buggers as you can to stop them breeding up and affecting your subsiquent crops or those of your neighbors. Like Jamie said I would try traps, there are easy to build home made trap plans and organic reciepes for bait on line. |

I set up plastic pet bottles with a few small holes drilled near the neck Put apple cider vinegar, yeast and molasses and some water in them. They get attracted and drown I have also sprayed molasses and lorsban and sprayed it on a wattle tree to attract and kill them (lorsban is nasty stuff so be careful). I keep the fruit cleaned up and plant dogs bane(Coleus cannis), marigolds and basil everywhere under fruit trees. |

Would golden syrup work instead of molasses? |

If your struggling to find some Gaz, I found some in our woolworths near the honey the other day. Actually comes in a plastic squeezy like the honey does. |

Cheers but I accidentally wound up with 2 containers of GS and trapping bugs seems like making the best of the situation. |

We had sticky traps hanging from our madarin tree last year and had no fly blown fruit. This year I didnt bother replacing the traps and they have got into the entire crop. |
