Our chooks fertilise them Burnsy We have Australorps, Rhode Island reds and Gold laced wyandottes. Let me know if you need some.

Thanks Faye, will keep it in mind, could be chasing a dozen fertilised gold laced wyandottes. Looking at options for home and at the farm school I work at Friday. Just have to wait for a hen to go clucky as I am not interested in mucking around with incubators and looking after chicks.
Been reading up on sex linking, thinking a gold laced rooster over some light sussex hens could be a good idea one day.

I really don't like the idea of crossing beautiful breeds. It was the intention when I got the Rhode Island reds and Light Sussex. Our Gold laced wyandottes have been stellar egg layers and raised many chicks all on their own. They are good looking birds and dual purpose - lay well and good for meat. They are my birds of choice. I do have a Light sussex hen sitting on eggs. She has not been a very good egg layer, unfortunately. Her name is Kath and the rooster is Kell.

I aggree but as I have a gold laced hen and a light sussex I figure I can have the best of both worlds if a get some more of each.. Our light sussex started laying a month ago and the gold laced of the same age is yet to lay. Since starting she has layed every day except two.

I'm trying to find some time to build a home for some chooks to get some . Do u have to buy chicks or can u buy just hens? I don't think I would want a rooster around the house (noise) . But on the other hand I now live in wanneroo right next.to wangara so if I do buy chicks I know where it can go too :p

You can buy pullets at point of lay however it is hard to find any of the exotic breeds at this age. The BYAP shop may have some but usually you have to run the gauntlet with unsexed chicks for these breeds.
ISA Browns and Hylines are readilly available. The Farm School I work at sells point of lay Hylines if they interest you. Just drop me a pm for details if you are in perth and interested.
