Can anyone tell me the best (and easy?) way to treat scaley legs on chooks? I have one Isa Brown with a bad case and another with a slight case. |

We have used mutton fat before, which worked OK. Now we just use baby oil, brushing it on with a paintbrush. The scaly bits come off with a light rub. It is easier to apply and is perfect for a regular maintenance treatment if the birds have it or not. I also heard somewhere the stuff used to backstripe sheep is also effective, but I haven't used it. |

I used tea tree oil mixed with water in a squirty spray bottle.. You have to give it a damn good shake up to try and mix the oil into the water every time you use it. Easy to spray on their legs though and cleared up the problem they had.... |

Thanks guys. I'll get on to it as soon as the rain stops. |

How are the scaley legs going GS? Break off some wormwood and put it in the base of the chook house, I think it helps as well. |

Thanks for the tip, Faye. We painted their legs with canola oil and the result is almost miraculous, but I'll do them again in a few days. I have a large wormwood bush so I'll definitely put some in their henhouse. |
