Was just talking to Cal about the soon to be honeymoon and it looks like the date has been set for the 11th June. You could almost see the twinkle in his eye when I made the suggestion. As the sun disappears, and day turns in to night, the champagne corks will pop. A toast will be made and the happy couple will spend the night together, no videos this time.

31 days expired at midnight and at 11am today, the beautiful dam named Quokka began pulling her fur out and started to nest. Joels mum was here and was able to witness the birth, not that we could really see much as she was fairly private about the whole thing but my guess is that there are 12 little ones. They are hard to count at the moment, from woah to go was about 20 minutes. Of course I have photos, but ummm I will wait till I can get a nice one, I warned the office staff, Joel said yuk, so best I don't post these ones.

Congratulations!!

Cal did it!!! He's a good boy!

It is worth going in tomorrow and checking them (very quickly) to make sure they are all ok and alive. If there are 12 it is possible to lose a couple, as that is probably too many for her to feed successfully (though not impossible!).
Keep a check too as sometimes they end up in odd places because they have stayed attached to the teat when the doe leaves the nest, and they are too young to find their way back.

Well done!!!

She did seem quite pleased with herself, about an hour after they were born she went back to her favourite corner at the other end of the hutch, and stood on her hind legs to greet me. Of course I told her just how clever I thought she was.

The proud mum, I don't think she has stopped eating, the babies must have taken a lot out of her and she is now spending a lot of time eating and pulling her hair out, as only mums can.

The little babies are hard to see under all the fluff, there are some dark ones there as well. I am still thinking there might be twelve, will have another little sneak peek later.
