That'd be right, always one step too far ahead, like when I painted all the mission brown pergolas cream, only to discover that the new trend was mission brown again, damn

In anticipation each and every fruit tree will receive a bag of sheep manuire, some wet newspaper, chicken manure pellets, cresco garden fertiliser and a bale of pea hay as well as a good drink of water. That should see them all perform magnificently after a dose of autumn rain, fingers crossed. It should also keep the weeds at bay. The roses will have to be trimmed before I leave for New Zealand on Saturday as they will need 42 days to flower, timing is everything in this game.

No time for dancing Joel :sad2:
I have used up all the sheep manure, ordered seedlings and mulched all the fruit treets. Pavers for the pool area are due Monday and the bathrrom tiling is underway. Gutters with leaf barrier I think start Monday. :whip: The new water tank was put in its place on the tank stand and the rusty old tank will become new raised baeds. Took Joels advice and cut the tall rectangle raised bed in half, it only takes a whole ute load each, now just have to adjust the retic to suit. One month to Garden Club. :bash: The vege garden and chook area are well underway. Still got to organise sawdust paths, driveway resurfacing and pizza oven install, not to mention end of renovation party and oh yeah, shower screen :ohdear: 'Tis all good.

The first 3 rectangle beds are being filled with mushroom compost and the old water tank cut in half should be able to make 2 very large deep wicking beds. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. There is just sooo much to do I am inclined to starting getting lazy and taking shortcuts to the quickest easiest way. Even to get soil to that area we can only cart it in the tray of the ute and access the area from the firebreak, at least we can do that otherwise it would have to be wheel barrowed, thats why I love the bags of sheep manure so much, they are easy to manage. I shall arrange some photos a little later.

For the high raised tin beds. Cut them in half and make two out of them.

I'd make as many wicking beds out of the raised bed and the tank sections as you can, I am very happy with how mine have performed over summer.

Mine are only 400mm high, half free draining half reservoir but I think 600mm high beds are the way to go as they will require watering less often with a 300mm reservoir.

I show how I made one out of a section of rainwater tank in my system thread to give you an idea of what is required.

Our old water tank has now become 4 potential wicking beds. Yet again, I am daunted by the amount of media required to fill these things. The raised beds that I have planted have taken a whole load of mushroom compost each.

It will fade to a natural brown in time, won't be shiny for long.

Taa Big Dave. I really love it.
But now there is more, we have a paved pool area :joy: it is a nice place to enjoy a glass of wine, I must have been tired after the 4th day at Garden Week cause I didn't take a photo, sorry everyone. You just have to take my word for it that it is really really beautiful, like the driveway but different.
