They need tonnes of food and water.

My mate has a few of them growing
I picked a lady finger ripe from the bunch while standing in the bucket of his bob cat.
It was the best banana I have ever tasted.
It had a lemony sherbet fizz,I picked the whole bunch but the fizz disappears after about half an hour off the bush.

My bananas haven't moved in the last 6 months or so since I planted them. They were planted into some good healthy compost soil and they have had ok water, but done nothing......

Yeah, my tree hasn't really done anything in the last 6 months either :bat:

It is alive though and has been getting some AP water tipped on it a couple of times a week over the last months or so due to a little project I have going on. Hopefully that's setting it up for a productive spring/summer/autumn !?!

Na.... You have to have a permit to have silver perch in Western Australia. But of course you knew that already. :wink:

In fact, fisheries told me a while back that no one will even sell you a silver perch before seeing your permit. I tried to point out that I had some already, he seemed to think that was impossible..

It's free to apply for a permit....

A guy here has Banana's growing in 60lt containers connected to his AP and Hydro, trees are over 20 foot tall and produce every year, they are under a 20 foot+ shelter

Narrogin is south of Perth and Bloody freezing in winter and mid 30's summer (Cool Nights) with a couple of 40's but not many

I went past that shop on st georges rd preston friday they have 2 bananas growing in 2 ft squares cut in the concrete foot path as far as i know they have been there for 20 years
yes they fruit

We were given 5 plants and I will have to move a couple closer to the AP system I will leave them in the ground that way if i get on overflow atleast it will go to good use hahahaha.... but i will get a pipe and just leak a little constaintly with each pumping that way they should get all they need and maybe i might put one in the ap for comparison

Naah you won't need a permit but you have to pay a tax :scared2:

My banannas are doing well, they grow surprisingly fast when you keep them moist and feed them, will have to get some pictures.

Bananas are potassium junkies and if you dont like using chem fertilisers, throw all your prunings, clippings etc around the roots. At one time I had almost a meter of trash around my plants and the roots were all thru it.

Faye, I reckon they taste so much better than ordinary ones, they are a creamy color inside and dont go brown once cut. They are perfect for drying. Some are so large I've struggled to eat a whole one.
