Just went and picked a basket of oranges off the tree to make more of the good stuff available for the next crop which is in flower and just starting now. Not a great harvest after being planted 7-8 years ago, pathetic really when you consider the love, water and mulches that get applied to the trees around here. When taking the photo I thought to myself that I wouldn't even pay for these due to the fact that they have scale on the fruit. (As I looked at the shop bought fruit basket, I realised that I had paid for some the week before and they in fact had scale also :inspect: must not have been wearing my glasses at the time. :bash: )

When I inspected one of the citrus trees I discovered what look like black aphids at the base of the tree, now I am going back with the big guns- The Nikon D80 macro lens, look out you bugs, here I come :bat:
On the way back someone was playing hide and seek.

Might have to invest in a chicken tractor, or should I say duck tractor to move them around. Faye the duck herder.

The ducks will soon be relocated to underneath the fruit trees.

They had been caged and when they found sand they thought they had died and gone to heaven.

This week saw the first snake, a dugite, Laura messaged a warning to the whole family to look out as it was on the driveway at hometime. Michael got video footage, (but with Lauras language and squeals I cannot post it) mind you that was as he was touching it :sad2:
Daniel was bitten by the pet snake this week, what a nasty bruise it left behind, no venom fortunately. Erica hadn't been fed for a little while and she must have been hungry, he must have smelled good after a training session at the gym. Micheal wanted to know why Daniel dropped his snake and says just for the record Daniel squealed like a girl. :)

Now I am getting serious :learn:
Funny thing is that the only way I would be allowed to have a pig at home is to promise Eddy I won't eat it. At the shop Joel says, you are not allowed to have any more animals until you have killed the ones we've got, I think he meant the rabbits and maybe roosters.

The problem in that title is 'Pet'. Be nice to have a manure factory in the back yard. Just have to make sure you get a pig that does not grow into Razorback.

There seems to be a few hoops to jump through first, like the council :dunno:
Oh well we will see.
On another note, (and just imgaine that we are singing) two little ducks went out to play, over the hill and far away, mother duck said quack, quack, quack, quack, but only one little duck came back :ohdear: A few feathers and no sign of Donald the drake this morning.
Daisy is awfully quiet :bash: They got out yesterday morning at feed time and I forgot to get them back in last night.

Thanks Jaymie, but I'll have to pass on that one. :)

We have 2 acres of this Banksia woodland, great place to do a wine tour on sunset though at this time of year, as long as you have long pants and workboots on.
I just love how much fun I can have with $5-00 worth of fuel, 4 wheels and a couple of hours riding around in the bush. Leaving behind nothing but cut down weeds. This time I didn't get bogged and the mower only stopped once, Eddy asked what have you done now? I don't know why he always thinks it is my fault, sometimes these things just stop all by themsleves. Of course all he had to do was lift the bonnet and it started again, no worries. :sad2:
Here is the result, the hazy pic is the dust blowing back and I am black from it too.

The bush is nice but is drying out quickly with the hot weather approaching, which also means snakes :run: I do feel in control when the machinery I drive makes a lot of vibration as well as noise and I can get in to places that I would otherwise fear may be home to reptilious creatures. Oh the power!
Pretty pleased with the health of the garden in general after good rains this year and lots of attention mulch and manure.

The first agapanthus spear has popped up, love these weeds they just look so good year round and so little maintenance, but what a show when they flower.

Just got off the phone from the council about the pig, and guess what? They said yes :joy: :joy: :joy:
Have emailed a breeder and just have to decide what colour :dunno: So I will wait for the baby photos before I decide
Jobs to do
Build three little houses, straw, sticks, bricks!
Have to start thinking of names - like Babe or Crackle.
Find a pig vet for just in case.
Get accessories like a harness to take it on walks.
A bit more research :learn: Something to look forward to anyway.
