L110 Nocky. I service it myself. I am a bit behind, but not too far. It has always lagged.

Out local JD dealer has closed I found when I last went to buy some stuff. A bit of a pain as I will now have to go a fair way to get my genuine stuff, or just go to a big mower etc wharehouse style joint and get the generic stuff.

wow must be an early L110, the mechanic here has a L102 the manual version 4 years old and it has a Briggs, but other than a new Fuel filter and spark plug and either blow out air cleaner or new one you probably won't get much more out of it, as mentioned before the dedicated makers these days will have a 19hp motor standard at least, you would be amazed at the difference 2hp makes, non genuine parts are ok when out of warranty but funnily enough usually more expensive, but it still must do the job because you still have it, Kohler and Briggs are the main 2 engines used in mowers, Briggs years ago had a reputation of excellent engines when you got them started, but today they are the best in my opinion and cause the least problems, at the last Narrogin Show we had a drag race with a 19.5hp Briggs and Stratton powered John Deere driven by our 110kg apprentice and a 20hp Kohler powered Massey driven by a 70kg salesman and the JD won 3/3 by about 12" we actually beat the massey boys at arm wrestling and drinking as well

Fizzy the mahindara probably serves you well and they are a nice tractor for the price, when I was at the opposition we used one to move a boom spray around the yard and the draw bar broke the boom tipped back and the hydraulic hoses pulled the SCV of the back and damaged, took over 5 months to get the parts, so that is what I am saying, also I was surprised that they had bushes instead of wheel bearings and a few other cheap bits, if you want easy parts, longevity, easy maintenance, and better reliability then Kabota, JD Massey are the option you need, The old Massey 135, 35 65, 165 were probably the best machines ever built, many still going in this district after 50 years, same can be said about the Chamberlain (Now JD) 80 series, and earlier 9G and 306 still a few of these going as well, and in the case of Chamberlains JD still support them for parts, Massey stopped with older ones a while ago but still plenty of Non Genuine suppliers, the fact is "They Don't Build Them Like That Anymore" but they do build them 8 times as big, 50 years ago that was the farms main tractor and these days they suit small hobby farms

We also have a JD
It's a ride-on, hubby said it's an L series, 42" cut, 22HP
On the mower it says 125 automatic
I :dunno: any other details as i never use it! Hubby loves mowing the lawn and i enjoy ironing :true: so no arguments over those chores.

We also purchased with the mower a small tipping trailer and i do use that. It's fantastic and i just pull it around to wherever i need it.

Well after spending $4,500 or whatever to buy it and later on another $1000 for a bagging kit, I'm hardly going to have much option but to keep it .

Shame they decided to change the setup seemingly straight after I bought mine. Not much sense underpowering a mower like this, as the extra size motor would make hardly any price difference.

Wow your dealer wasn't that friendly :bat: new LA115 Auto is less than $4000 now and for $4500 you would get the LA125 above, the bagger fits new models VB as long as you have a 42" deck now, and you should, yours is worth around $3000 so new mower for under $1000

That's spot on, and hubby said it was the best value mower at the time and thats after having a Viking!

A small electrical appliance feared by most men, hated by many women, un-heard of by most young people, over used by most older (very mature) women; but if used in the correct way, (sitting down, with favorite music playing), it can be a way to relax and maybe escape from much worse chores, while it appears you are doing a 'difficult' job!

Nocky - can't see my 6 year old mower selling for $3000 if a new and much better model is only $4000. I bet trade in would be substantially less.

Anyway - it does the job. There is only one area of my yard I can't take it into and it only has weeds anyway, which I hope to get control of eventually with plantings. Just would have been handy to be able to mow parts of it (some of it I wouldn't try with any mower due to slope).

Yours is not that bad EB, I must admit some animated ones are quite annoying, like my fly, the most annoying one belongs to a member in BYAP, talking monitor head on a human body it just keeps flapping it's jaw, but it probably fits the owner  my avatar looks more like an old massey but not sure to be honest

Trading VB is not the best option as we would give you $1500 best, a local here bought a eztrack (pic below) and wanted to trade a L110 not in perfect condition so suggested he sold it in the paper, he got $2,900 from memory, yes doesn't make much sense when you can get a new one for $1000 more even $500 more if you get a manual but Mr Barnum said 'There's a Sucker Born Every Minute' but most people expect to pay double for a new one without checking out the prices :dunno:
The latest popular mowers are the zero steer machines, start at about $7,500 the rear wheels are powered by separate hydraulic motors and are steered by handles similar to a bobcat, pushing 1 handle forward and pulling the other back makes it spin on a 1c piece, more fun than the royal show, the one pictured comes standard with a 48" mowing deck and up to 72", few companies are making them now, but the JD range and Husqvana range in my opinion are the better ones
And no that isn't me in the picture, I have a bigger beer gut, 20 years older and much grumpier than that guy :bat:
