The animal is easy. That would be chickens for me.

Coconut palms are said to provide everything man needs to survive - food, fluids, shelter, etc.
Sweet potato for flour as well as vegetable
Orange to prevent scurvy
Banana because they're filling
Bamboo (eat shoots and use poles for building).

Mmmm - Bamboo - good thinking. Feel a bit stupid for not thinking of it myself seeing as I have a fair bit growing on my property.

Don't have 5 plants yet coz I am just a beginner at growing plants... Anyways, seems like grapes do well in Perth climate?? Do they need shelter (shade) from the scorching hot sun in summer??
Anyone tried grapes in AP??

Food n Fish has them growing in his greenhouse and I believe they are doing rather well.

My 5 plants would be:
Ceratonia-Carob Bean Tree.....chocolate substitute :thunbs:
Coffea arabica- The Coffee Tree
Strawberries
Potatoes
Pumpkin

An animal; hard to choose between:
chickens-bonus eggs or
cow-bonus milk
would prefer to eat chicken, so guess i could learn to drink my coffee without milk!

ok..........
Zuchini because they are so prolific.
Tomatoes because there is nothing like a home grown one.
Garlic because its so easy to grow and lasts for ages.
Potatoes same reasons as garlic.
one more?? Lemons.
All things that can be part of many meals - its always good to have something from the garden added to your dinner!

Hhhhm, perhaps I might revisit my 5 plants...

Potatoes - for food and distilling into vodka
Grapes - for eating and making into wine
Apples - for eating, cooking and making cider
Barley - for food and essential component of beer
Hops - coz you can't make beer without them...

:)

3) Citrus sinensis good source of vitamins
4) Zea mays could grow plenty and eat raw
5) Cannabis Sativa with a diet of above I will probably die sooner than later so may as well die happy

I'd go to the other side of the island and steal some of Granny's bamboo and build a fence
