11 hens layed 50 eggs in 5 days! Best egg production for me so far! Also the eggs seem a little bigger. I went to the coast for 5 days and left the chickens to the deer feeder and it was set a little high - feed still on the ground after feeding. I will turn it down a notch today. I also topped up all the quail feeders and as messy as they are the chickens were overstuffed. This is their first season laying and I read somewhere that you get 3-4 good years per hen and as they get older the eggs can get bigger.

Pretty good BB, you may get sick of eggs by the sounds, I have 3 isa's and they lay 3 eggs a day, one of the older ones misses every now and then, I thick stretchman or duff wrote elsewhere that 300 eggs a year from a chook is normal

Not sure but planning on culling about half the hens and a rooster. I also have a have dozen chicks about a month old and 2 dozen that hatched out today. I've been giving away more eggs than people have been saving cartons for me. I hate to buy cartons to give eggs away. I really just want a little excess of my family's needs. I should have thinned the laying flock back some time ago.
