Well. It ended up being 65kg because I measured with bathroom scales.
So the winner is..................................................

EB! :thumb:

We got 9 litres which they said was about average yield.
The oil is delicious and very high quality. Very happy with the end result.
Looks like I need to get the tress lopped so that they arent as high. Heaps of olives that are too high to get too.
Will definitely do it again but will get some help so that I can harvest more kg.

Thats awsome! nobody that I know of around here grows their own olives,
Oldute do you know what type olive tree it is??? photos???

I could reach some of the upper branches with a rake and shook like buggery but not a lot fell.
The guy at the York Olive oil company said to get the trees lopped. Reckons they are unkillable and last for over 500 years! Not sure what type of olive trees they are BRB.
I've misplaced the usb cable for my camera so photos may be a while but I'll try and find it and put some up.

I'd like to try pickling some olives this year too.
Does anybody have a simple method that has given them good results?

$140 is their minimum charge. You can do up to 350kg for the same charge.
They were selling 250ml bottles of oil for $13 in the shop.
It was something I've wanted to do for a while, glad I did it. Next time I'll have more kg.

for your harvest $15 a litre or 20 allowing for travel, if it's good stuff then a good price, 9 litres should last a while, we get ours from Coles they normally do 3lts tins for $45 -$50 but then they have super specials for same $15, so we get a couple at that price when it happens, have plenty on hand ATM, but sounds like a good experience, you can't beat olive oil for cooking anything

Nice work...

On the "gourmet Farmer" show, he went to an olive farm where they charged a fortune for for their extra virgin...

I know someone who is growing olives, lots of them..... Stu/Monya from BYAP has a big olive grove on his farm.

oldute - there is a place in herne hill that does the same - maybe closer - I have the details somewhere but will need to dig them out. I also have an authentic method for pickling - probably same place. will post one day.
