Went to the easter show last night. Had a look through the pavilions where people enter every thing from art to vegies. Was nice to see that I could of won at least 5 or 6 of the vegy section with vegies I have in the garden currently. I'd have entered some if I knew everyone elses were so small. :hello: My chooks are eating sweet potato larger than the one that got 1st place and the chooks get a choice of color.

Harvested my season's pumpkins today - 38 butternuts with a total of 50.18 kgs. Sizes ranged from 660g to 2.9 kg. All from just two plants. The roots were amazing - some up to 20 metres.

Thats great Granny Smith. We had a good season a few years ago with around 60 odd. I was watering a lot then :sad2: now I am trying to be good.
Sometimes I get sick of trying to be good, I just want to grow things. :dont:

Watering isn't a sin here. We have more than we need from rainwater, dam, etc.

I finally dragged my tomato plants, kicking and screaming off to the tip. I lost count of the final weight because I got sick of weighing them, but it was well over 150kg with at least another 10kg of green ones on the vines. I was just so over them I couldn't face them any more. Didn't like to put the vines on our big burning pile in the middle of a llama paddock because I wasn't sure if they might be poisonous as are potato plants (and the same family). And being full of tomatoes, didn't want them in the compost.

Good excuse for a fossick (read scavange) around the tip. I usually find at least one treasure. DH says we come home with more than we take. This time it was eight solid wooden doors which we will use in our project to turn our barn into stables with several stalls for the llamas. Only $25 the lot.

Nor are we but we do have a tip shop. They do sell some good stuff at a good price, but is more fun scavenging.

I went to the tip a few weeks ago in the fire truck "to check on a smouldering fire" and came out with some goodies for upcoming rabbit projects. :bandit:
