Hi all

I have found some more mushrooms in the backyard, this time growing in my spud beds. I did put a bit of left over Mushroom Compost in the soil mix, but it was less than a litre (just a bit of leftovers in an old bag). There is also mixed manure and chicken manure in there with pea straw. I was having a bit of a dig to see if the spuds were doing anything and found these

Before I go eating them I was wondering if anyone can give a positive ID on them. Each is about 15mm across.

If it was me I'd be taking them to the museum or botanic gardens and get them identifed by sombody that knows what they are talking about before you go sticking them in your mouth.

better safe then sorry (dead)

They remind me of a thing I once found and the name "earth stars" rings a bell. Don't know for sure, but their appearance is ball like and then open with petal like flaps, sounds crazy, I know.

I tried to get the wife to taste them, but she doesn't trust me for some reason. I might have better luck with the daughter :shhh:

Look a bit like sick Gold Tops (Magic Mushrooms) :learn: You may be able to get someone north east of you to try them and maybe benefit the rest of the town if they are something a bit heavier than MM's, but have seen many MM in Narrogin, depends where you look, never tried them myself but apparently they spin you out
