Vegetables to plant now

We have brassicas galore here at the shop at the moment, lots of nice health broccoli, cabbages and cauliflowers starting to take off.

Our chives have been hammered by black aphids, whatever happened to chives being a pest repelant. Anyway, they have been cut right off to try and get rid of the aphids but the aphids are still all over the short stumpy bits of the plants left there..

I see bunnings here in melb have spuds 10 varieties schlotts rhubarb raspberry and lots of other stuff

I got my seed potatoes from Bunnings, can't remember what type.

Just planted Jap pumpkin and water melons, 20 ish of each. Have cucumbers in and I'm planing on 5 different types of tomatoes not counting the ones that are growing now.

Whilst it's not a vegetable I've filled two seed trays with chilli seeds. I'm gong to try and get some Dorset Nagas and Trinidad Scorpions growing.

The trays are now sitting on a heat mat in my shed. If they take off I'll get some more varieties going pretty soon.

Still have some Fatalii, 7 Pod, 7 Pod “Jonah”, 7 Pod Douglah, Bonda ma Jacques, Bhut Jolokia and Dorset Naga seeds to try out. No idea on how viable the seed is yet they came from semi dried pods.

You're not wrong there EB, I know the Dorset I ate caused a great deal of pain.

Just makes you want to try one. And talk a couple of mates into doing it as well. Do they lose there bite if you pickled some. Make nice gifts. :shock2:

I planted some Chilli, Tomato's, Leaks, Beetroot and corn in a mini greenhouse yesterday, mainly for AP, see how they go getting through this marvelous weather we are having, all my AP veg have near perished in the frosts, I only have onions and and Garlic in soil and they seem to be hanging on, the weather has been terrible, people in town have things carking it everywhere that have lived for a few years, my new passion vine has all leaves burnt off but may come back

My Ap system has handled the frosts well. 3 paw paw trees and only a little burn. The one in the dirt garden got it worse.

Planted some bulls horn chillis and lazy housewife beans today. Also sat a few more chokos in pots.

Sorry Paul - haven't been around much the last couple of weeks !

Interesting about the mail though as I have nothing there. Also, Burnsy said he sent me a PM about some sugarcane but there's nothing there from him either.

I'll PM you in a minute to see if it's working.

Oh, while I'm here - it's not gunna happen - I have no intention of eating even one ! :crazy:

I hate hot chillies. That was always one of the downsides of attending the food festivals - we developed a following and there was always someone turning up with their amazingly hot chilli that they grew and wanted me to try right there and then in from of them :bat:
