Brew put down this arvo while enjoying the rain.

Honey APA

As always - Toucan(Two Can) Coopers Pale

1/2 can of Malt at 60mins
45g Cascade @ 45mins
15g Saaz @ 20mins
15g Cascade @ 10mins
20g Nelson Sauvi @ 5 mins
400g Yellow Box Honey at Flameout

I've done a honey beer once before and it was nice altough I find you have to use a lot to get a strong taste - I used a kilo last time, sort of takes the Cheap out of homebrewing!

I will start Comenting on these brews as they mature and I can start drinking them. :cheers:

Few more kegs to get through before I start on the once mentioned here.

So do you label each keg as you're going Dave or do you remember them? Do you keep a rtack of each different one as you go and try them all so that you can repeat the good recipes?

I write down each recipe in a book with a Name, Date and a Number, I then tag the keg with the same info, so when I drink a #32 with a 26/07/10 Tag I can look back in the book and find out what I did.

Yeah, usally after the 15th one, so some of the comments in my book are rather interesting and messy!

I managed to put down this Xmas's Ginger beer today, and also kegged up my "Medievel Amber Ale" that has been lagering for a couple of months. I tasted ok flat and cool, straight out of the fermenter so that is a good start

I'll have to do more rigourous testing in a few days when it is cold and bubbly

Brewed an APA today but must have had a brain fade when weighing out the grain. When I milled it it filled the 20L bucket and more. I have never filled the bucket before so must have chucked in a kilo too much of something :shock:

Anyhoo, OG came out 1057 so it should give around 6.5% alc :cheers:

Should have a very merry xmas with this one

I put on a Coopers Hop Gobbler this afternoon. This was a special offered by Coopers and is an English dark ale style beer. Ingredients include Coopers English bitter kit, 1.5kg malt extract, 500g light malt, 300g chocolate malt barley, 25g each of goldings hops and fuggles hops.

Can't wait to see how this brew turns out. If nothing else it was fun brewing :thumb:

Do you gents grow your own hops? Or for that matter, any other ingredients used in brewing?

I havent tried growing my own hops before but I know a few people who do. I'll give it a try one day when I have more space. Same goes with the malting barley! :cheers:
