Thanks for the Birthday Wishes Guys, though my birthday didnt turn out how I had planned. :sad2:
I spent the last 3 days in hospital after being bitten by a Western Brown Snake while cleaning up around the block.

Im ok now, but that was one experience I hope I never have to go through again!

16 tubes and wires hanging out of me
1 CT Scan
2 Chest X-Rays
4 Antivenine Injections
2 Blood Plasma Transfusions
Countless blood samples
8 horrible meals!

Still not feeling 100% but glad to be home now

You forgot:

0 Beer for three days

Poor bastard, I'm surprise a Western Brown could get his fangs through a Northern Teritorians skin, probably won't be trying that again for some time.

Happy birthday

They originate from the Tropical Americas, They love the heat and humid - so they love it up here!
Also known as the Acerola. There are a lot of weird and wonderful fruits in the tropics, you should visit the markets if your ever up here.

Is the Pineapple a bromiliad (spelling) ?

I've also noticed the shops are no longer selling pineapples with the leaves on anymore, I guess if you try planting it, it will grow :dunno:

I think it also cuts down on freight and packaging costs if you chop the top off.. There is a place down this way that still had some of the old school ones with tops on, good old Tony Ales.

Hows that, after asking about the Barbados cherry, ended seeing a docco the other night about growing the cherries and dragon fruit in Vietnam, and the problems they have with fruit fly. I noticed they pick the cherries fairly green, and thats to help stop fruit fly problems.

saw that too
I didnt realise they go red after picking
My tree is chockers in flower and quite a few fruit at the ,moment
Birds love them.
Its amazing how they change taste quite significantly between ripe and really ripe.

My pineapple still has a bit to go
