They have been spraying them but I dont know what the poison is! I would prefer to rip the firebreaks to stay away from the poison. Fancy myself on a tractor with a cloud of dust around me
What do you prefer?

If it had a tractor I would rip....then spray after any growth.

I mow my fire breaks, there is no requirement for there to be no vegitation on fire breaks up here a long as the vegitation is mowed short - there is a length required but I forget what it is.

In Victoria it used to be illegal to make fire breaks around your property, in WA it's illegal not to :thumb:
I think the vic's might have learnt after the last lot of fires......but who knows, there was only one smart one that done his breaks and copped a $5000 fine for doin so, on reflection he said " $5000 is a measley price to pay for my home" as his was the only standing in the area.

Smart bloke. Spose they have changed there laws now.
Im starting to think ,BD, that you and your mower have been surgically connected. You got enough room on the back for a cold slab or do you have to keep driving back to fridge to re-stock?.

I used to send the missus to restock the mower, but since she's 7 months pregnant she's been slowing down a bit and I havent trained the dog to get me a beer so it looks like I wont be able to mow the lawn for a while!

 You got a kid on the way BD. You will be able to train Him/Her to crawl out to load the mower up. You will be back on it before you know it!!

Chemical aren't nice but then again neither is soil erosion so I just spray my fire breaks to keep the dirt is place, in saying this however I don't have a choice as I have spay rig but no tractor.

I'm getting a ride on mower soon (don't tell Nocky) and I think when I do I will mow the fire breaks as the rules only state that by November the vegetation on the fire breaks must be less than 100mm and no grass grows after November in my neck of the woods, so a once a year mow will do the trick with no chemicals and no soil erosion. :thumb:

Thanks Faye. I told you I was looking ,didnt I.I have a lot of research as the property has no power, telephone or water apart from the two watertanks and river. Has got a small solar and wind turbine to power weekender but what I have planned for it,I need POWER!! Looking forward to remote solar/wind system. First step, Large shed and massive watertank needed. Guess I will be up for double shifts to pay for it all :yuck:

Excited alright. As I say been looking for years. Started down in Mt Barker, Kendernup (when you could get 20acres for $ 40,000.) :bash: . Looked at Quinninup, Pemberton, Bridgetown, Nannup, Balingup,Boyup Brook, Donneybrook,Harvey, then finally found a place in Boddington. 125km from home, 125 km to mates farm in Mornington and 125 km back home. How weird is that. Bit like a Bermuda triangle :scared2:

Well, settlement happens on Friday. Been out and bought wire cutters as lots of barbed wire lying about so will cut it up into a neat pile for removal. Got solar power so have been looking at Waeco fridges. Very neat. There is an old gas fridge there but am a bit reluctant with gas and age.(I should be used to it working in aged care!! :fart: )
Been checking out Tractors but think I might have to channel the JD Lord for some guidance. Where art thou, PistolKnight???
Never thought I would have as much fun spending money that i dont have
