Oh man...... This one totally slipped me by.... Damn nice looking spot there seamonkey, and the great thing is that although the other hill looks like that at the moment, now they have taken the bauxite from it, there's nothing else left to mine there. So it will either be reforested or it will be re-pastured and in a couple of years you will have forgotten all about it.

Nice work....... :thunbs:

Thanks EB. Its a great place. Im really looking forward to the hard yakka. :joy: It already has lemon, orange, pear, olive trees and I think an avocado tree. Will be catching up with the previous owner soon so he can explain all the workings and will give me names of all trees.
Popped down on Tuesday just to see if it was real. Enjoyed a beer at the local.(Quindanning). He left his marron nets. WooHoo!! :thunbs:

Right, so I have to research 12v and 24v. Have posted on BYAP. Spotted termites on shed so have to research DIY treatment. Any ideas? Really should be asleep by now but head spinning!!

I'm not great with the 12-24V stuff....

But yeah, termites aren't fun, better look at doing things out of steel where possible.

Definately steel for new dwelling, EB, but it has a beaut weekender already on it made of wood cladding :scared2: and tin internally. Decking at front of it.

Termidor is the best chemical treatment for termites you can get. It will wipe ot the whole nest with a very small amount - its what all the Pest Controllers use. Problem is, In every state except the NT you need a licence to buy it, and it costs $600 for 2 liters. :shock2:

What problems are you having with your DC System?

 Owch. 600bucks for 2 Lt. Ive got the pest man coming tomorrow to do my yearly check and spray in suburbia. Maybe I should  and offer fresh vegies!! Nah, thats not going to work is it. Maybe he might have some in his van and when he is out the back I could :inspect: and :run: . Nah, couldnt do that either.
The set up with the weekender, apart from termites, is that it has a wind turbine and two solar panels. It has lighting wired through it but I want to plug in 12v fridge and put an inverter in so maybe some tv or radio at least.
The previous owner says the power is 24v. He has two truck batteries which are enough to put a glow in the lighting.
I obviously need to find out how much power the system can generate and then get deep cycle batteries.
I think it was Privateer that said 2x12v batteries in series would do the trick.

Ow, yeah, bit of pain there SM (at $600/2lt).

Sorry, can't help on the 12-24volt stuff either - far too advanced for my little brain

With the termites, you may want a full building inspection - not a lot of point getting the building treated if it's already past the point of no return (I hope it's not).

Hi Dude
No point in a building inspection really. It only a shack and hopefully it will stay up long enough to enjoy while the decisions on an all steel dwelling are made. Could be staying down there tonight so will probably hear them happily gnawing away .
I need to put some netting over pear tree before the birds spot them :bat: . Probably too late there also :ahhh:

 PLOP! Into the river, never to be heard or seen again. And the termites continued to party until there was not one splinter standing. THE END
