It's a bit wet here!!!
Yesterday we had nearly 50mm of rain in about 20 minutes, and dear hubby thought i was exaggerating when i rang him at work and said "the water is rising rapidly"

Wow, Flash Flood!
Lucky it stopped raining when it did then.
Id be concerned if I saw something like that floating under my clothes line, living in Croc Country does that to you, you always have to look twice. :scared2:

Thankfully that's one problem we don't have to worry about!

Hubby keeps checking out the weather map; it is still looking threatening. Thankfully our house is on stumps, 3 to 4ft off the ground.

Some trees and branches down, floating logs, garden mulch where it shouldn't be, but the worst thing is the sticky mud on everything!

I finally have a wicking bed (actually I have 2) Hubby tells me they are my Chrissy present :shock:

Well what else could a lady possibly want for Christmas??? Actually i am very pleased with them

They are set up in the area where we are putting together our latest AP system and i will be able to grow some of the vegies that haven't done well in our other AP systems, like carrots.

They have a layer of vermiculite at the bottom, which is covered by shadecloth, then a good potting mix on top. The 1st bed is in a position where it will get plenty of sun, but the 2nd is quite shaded in Summer, but will get more sun in Winter when the sun is lower, so will see how things go in it.

Thats a nice simple wicking bed.....

Damn I'm looking forward to getting one going some day soon. Might have to be a new years resolution.

Yeah very nice wicking beds. I am loving the results with my first one and am going to try carrots in it as well :thumb:
