I wonder why that is ? Should essentially be the same. Weird.

I'm in Qld I have had the same capsicums(from bunnings) in the ground and producing for over a year. Its always got fruit on it.
For me they are the best and easiest thing to grow
I cant get zucchini or beans to grow but capsicums no problems.

Sounds nice Snags. I'm hoping to see how long my capsicums run for here in Perth (have only been in for 5 weeks) in my AP system as we don't really get cold weather until late June.

What sort of beans have you been trying. I would've thought some of the tropical beans like snake beans would be loving it where you are.

sorry to be off topic, but

I had a lot of trouble with beans at the start. something was getting into the stems and killing the plants whenthey were about 10 inches high, just before they attached to the trellis. I've since moved spots, and they are much better. I now have both Purple Kings and Snake beans in the front yard, trying to disguise the chookhouse. The putple kings dont produce an enormous amount of beans, but they are good to eat. So far the snake beans have put on a lot of growth (6-8 main runners off each plant), but nofar no beans. I'm sure they will start soon.

Back on topic:

As for capsicums, i've had very little luck in Brisbane. But I did just move a plant that survived winter to another place in the garden, and its flowered again, so perhaps i'll finally get a capsicum to eat.

cheers

Tried bush beams 3 times they grow I get 10 beans and the plant then dies.
Its either nematode fungal or bean fly
I just bought Snake beans from Ebay should be in the mail in a few days.
Zucchinis I ve tried green one and the Lebanese one,no luck the plant struggles gets leaf rot and I might get 1 or 2 before it dies.
Just found a frozen chilli in the freezer birds eye put it in my fried rice and planted the seeds(I am hoping they think they have just come out of a really cold winter)

Yeah, you might get lucky Snags, but don't go betting anything important on it !

Mine have been in all winter and died right off, they have just started to produce fruit again so I'll see how they go :whip:

Still cant grow capsicums successfully.
Bought about 4 different varieties to try and some were growing well.
I've gone for a dripper system this time which keeps the soil slightly moist.
Today the temperature was only 25 degrees and some of my nicer capsicums got bad sunburn that has ruined the fruit. I could understand if it was 40 degrees, but 25?

I usually have the shade cover over the garden so the caps don't get burnt.

Normally I grow capsicums like oldute (with little success) but for some reason this year one of my plants is producing very well with 5 fat juicy fruit while another just as healthy looking plant growing in the same bed has zero :dunno: I have NFI what I am doing that is right but here are the growing conditions if it will help.

They were grown from seed germinated directly in the wicking bed in early spring. Seeds were bought not saved, the soil is rich in organic matter, fertilised lightly with chook poo and they are in full sun in the morning and recieve dapled light in the afternoon, growing next to a strawberry and a zucchini.

I have had some success for the first time! I have had a dripper system to each plant on a continuous very slow drip, I've also had them underneath 50% shade cloth. They still get a bit hammered on the hot days but first time I've had some fruit worth picking. Tried letting some go red but havent had one go fully red before it got damaged yet. Happy that I've had some worth picking after trying for years.

Maybe it is the weather Simo. My capsicums that did nada last year are full of juicy plump capsicums this year and all my vine type vegies (pumpkin, zuc, cucs, and melons) have done little and I doubt I will get anything from them. The pumpkins actually died off a few weeks ago as if it were the end of the season but the fuit was not fully matured on them.

Despite zuccini usually growing like weeds I have had four plants that have not produced one fruit to date, flowers and plenty of leaves but no fruit. The chooks destroyed one of them two weeks ago and it has now regrown and is fruiting :dunno:
