I may not have explained very well exactly why it is that we got into aquaponics. And why I've named the thread the Rock Farm.

Today I used an auger to drill 6 holes in the yard for fruit and nut trees. It took over two hours. and I am shattered.

We've had this block for 20 years, and I sometimes feel guilty that I haven't planted more fruit trees. It really came to me today. This "soil" is why. I have the space, I have the trees, I sometimes have the time, but I don't have the energy to gouge out the holes

This is the "good" soil too.

Hey Jamie - how's things buddy.

If I were you I'd be getting my hands on as much organic matter as I possibly could - grass clippings, tree mulch etc etc and just look at building up the quality of the soil from the top and in the end probably planting on mounds. In the meantime plant your chop and drop type plants - lugumes wherever possible.
