How often do you let your chickens out to roam around, and how far away from chook-atraz is your AP system? Keep an eye on them.
I've been trimming a few half dead leaves from my broccoli plants and tossing them in with the Rhode Island Reds. In the afternoons I usually let them run loose, as they are not quite ready to lay eggs yet. I am now the sad owner of a few broccoli plants with no leaves. Guess they aquired the taste.

Recipes, need recipes. Pics are great, but kinda hard to poke the computer monitor with a fork. Tends to leave one still hungry with scratches on the screen.

Especially the impossible pie.

Will work on providing some recipes when I have a little more time Mr Bill. Was talking to friends last night and have another idea to use up some eggs, "friands" think that is how use spell it. Mmmm yum, my mouth is watering just thinking about it. Looking for more ideas and then it could be" using eggs 101" or "101 uses for egg". This would also include eggs to clarify water, will have to test that one first and using eggs to keep away the parrots, yeah that's right spraying your fruit trees to keep the parrots from eating the fruit. Bet you hadn't heard that one before.

Definitely haven't heard that one before. Then again, we don't have parrots in the trees over here.

Here I am cruising through the internet searching for impossible pie recipes. Found a few good ones that I'll try. Also found, in the Australian Woman's Weekly, a recipe for braised wallaby shanks. What the... Google "Wallaby"... Ah, a small kangaroo type of critter. Interesting.

Back on track now, so this impossible pie can be a dessert made with coconut and alot of eggs, or a main meal with meat and vegetables and a lot of eggs, or just vegetables with a lot of eggs.

I'm seeing a trend here...
And using a lot of eggs in the future.

Whenever I have made impossible pie it has always been savoury and you can chuck in whatever you have on hand. I would use cheese - grated tasty and/or parmesan for a bit of oomf, spinach, onion, parsley sometimes bacon- it is a bit like quiche.
Thinking seriuously about the egg cook book since you planted the seed.
Fayes Famous Frugal Family Farmhouse Favourite Fare :sad2:
This mornings' egg recipe is Friands
The internet site didn't have a picture and if it did I wouldn't have chosen the recipe cause the photo does not do it justice. My dad said, pity about the cakes, they're burnt :run:
I said it is a new recipe. They certainly tasted better than they looked. Very buttery which contributes to the caramel coloured outside, made with almond meal and citron zest, making them sweet and moist and full of flavour with a slightly crunchy outside. The family agreed they were good :thumb:

Got the mower and gave the area around the fruit trees a bit of a workout, Eddy is seen hosing down the undercarriage, while I was waiting for the hose to fill the chooks water. Still getting 6 eggs a day, I like this photo because it looks so lush, almost like a tropical Queensland garden. The loquat tree is fruiting well and today the 35 odd fruit trees got a generous serve of pelletised chicken manure, blood and bone and sulphate of potash and a good watering.

Just wondering where my text went :dunno:
Anyway the big tree on the left (in the first pic) is an Irish Strawberry tree and that is the fruit Bushy. It flowers around winter, is rather big with deep green foliage, and I love the cute flowers. It is edible, though I wouldn't bother as there are lots of tiny little pips and not much flavour.

It sure does Faye (and Eddy!). It looks lovely. It is a great time of year isn't it....warm but still damp, perfect growing weather!

Well the weather is tipped to get to 35 degrees today and so I am keeping an eye on the trout that are still happily swimming and planning to harvest those that become slower and easy to catch. In the meantime we had another birthday in the family and my dad turned 81 so I made him a special old fashioned treat as well as the standard Sunday scones with strawberry jam and cream.
