Put a bucket with a small hole next to the base of the plant and fill it every few days. Add a little(very small amount of fert) to the water when you fill the bucket.

Finally got a round to building a compost bin,i t is two bays wide enought to get a bobcat bucket into, front sheet of tin slides to either side for access. Right now I am just putting old hay and horse manure in it from when I clean out the stables but I plan start composting properly in the future. This has been on the "to do" list for years, didn't take long, just always seems to be something else to do.

Put my spuds in in April as they has started to sprout, using Duff's trench and hill method this year, hilled up in early June. We never get a frost as we are on top of a hill so should be a bumper crop. :joy:

Four butternut pumkins (squash) in the pumpkin patch produced about 20 pumpkins this year, I think I am starting to push the family's tolerance to pumkin soup though

Some photos of my veggie patch.

This is my sweet potato bed, started with 1 sweet potato cut in half and sprouted in a glass of water then planted in the dirt. When the vines get about 60cm long I dig a hole and push the middle of the vine under the dirt so it can take root, a few months later I cut the vine between the two roots and create a new plant that will form a new tuber. Doesn't take long before one tuber can be propergated to fill a whole garden bed.

Lemon grass and rubarb are going off, does any one know if you need to trim back lemon grass when it goes to seed, and are the seeds easy to propergate?

Looking good Simo  I though sweet potato was a warm season crop  I'm trying to sprout a tuber in a glass of water at the moment with no luck yet. Will keep trying.

I'm not sure about growing lemon grass from seed but I know they grow well from divisions. Just lift the plant every couple of years and split it up into a few smaller ones.

Nice harvest Simo :thumb: I like the way you put a mini orange lighter next to the normal sized orange lighter. No one can accuse you of using a mini lighter as scale next to that monster carrot :D
