Try feeding the yabby carrot, I have heard this will help the blue colour.
The kale looks similar to one that we bought as seedlings and I thought it was "Black Tuscan" disappointing really that it wasn't as black as I imagined it would be.
The Dipel should be repeated to take care of new growth and future hatchings as well as reapplying after rain.
The Bush Tucker garden is looking good!

Thanks Faye! I think you are right about the kale...somehow the tag I put in there has gone missing, and it must have been the end of the seed packet so I couldn't check...it was from Diggers, and Black Tuscan sounds right (it is in their catalogue too).
Carrot.....hm, will give it a go!
The Dipel seems to have worked, there is new growth...and its staying there! Good point about new hatchings though, so I will reapply....now I want to concentrate on the white fly!!

The blue will come through after it sheds a couple of times....keep an eye on it as just before the yabbie sheds it will go mental in the tank trying to crack the shell at the carpace and tail joint :D

OMG it has been hot! It has been hard keeping all the veggies alive, as well as keeping the animals cool!
We discovered the turkeys LOVE getting wet! In the evening when we go outside to feed everyone, we freshen up the waters and run some sprinklers, and the turkeys have been getting IN the water containers and playing with the water as it comes out the hose, getting soaked in the process!

The vegetable spaghetti is enjoying the heat though, and growing quickly!

How are you going to keep the turkeys cool when they are in your oven? :D

Death and destruction.....again..... :sad2: Amazingly we went out to feed the animals the other night and lo and behold there was a fox in the chook run...still....actually curled up like it was waiting to be let out! It was the mangiest, skinniest fox we have ever seen....but it had killed three chooks :bat:

It had apparently got in and done its deed, but couldn't get out again....it never did.......

A dead fox is a good fox.

On another note, I found a rabbit in my feed shed yesterday with it's eyes completely crusted over with purulent discharge, I assume from myxomatosis although I have never seen it that bad in any rabbit I have shot before. I would like to breed my own meet rabbits one day and was wondering if you have any problems with wild rabbit viruses crossing over to your bun buns?

We did have problems when we first started as myxi is transmitted via Mosquitos and in Oz there is no vaccine available. The rabbits now live in a completely fly wired enclosure.....in complete luxury! ....so we have had no problems now for about three or four years :thumb:
It was a big job but worth the effort. It was awful seeing one rabbit of ours after another come down with myxi, though completely agree with the need to eradicate them from the bush.

Despite the continuous hot weather, we are cropping quite a few things still....but having to pour on the water! So different to the other side of the country :dunno:

Just wondering what's been happening around your place this week? After the recent run on wildlife and wildfire, perhaps you are just taking it easy and chillin". You guys deserve a break!
