2 of the can-o-worm and 1 worm cafe. Plus all the AP grow beds that are full of worms.

Hi Deb, I saw Josh Byrne make a worm farm out of an old fridge on gardening australia. This is the link to the story -

Thanks for the suggestions, but apparently it really needs to be a degassed (better for the environment) and this is better done by a professional (so we have read).
We have put an order in with Armadale dump- their Drop 'n' Shop is our favourite store!! When they get fridges in that don't work they have a person decommission them and then sell them in their shop. They only have two little ones at the moment, but will let us know when another comes in!
Hopefully not too long!

I want some!! Other things have taken over that plan at the moment, like building a shade house....but we are still keeping our eye out for a degassed fridge!

Peasants, did you ever find a degassed fridge? There are usually heaps to choose from on roadside chuckout. Look for the ones that are signed and dated by a fridgy on the side. Council won't collect them unless they are degassed.
Looking to expand our can o worms to a larger fridge or bath system. The kids at school are researching and setting up a big bath system from a huge fiberglass bath I grabbed from roadside chuckout but I like the idea of a fridge that I can keep the door on for a lid at home to keep the magpies, kookaburras and crows out.

Hi Burnsy, we used an old cast iron bath! After looking for a good sized fridge for a while, we realised we had this bath in our store area with things in it. It is great, and the worms are thriving! We just made a lid out of marine ply to go over the top.

A quick read thru this thread has given me the inspiration to spend more time on my worm farm and try to get it cranking. Might need to source some scraps from somewhere else as my chooks do a great job of the scraps we currently produce.

We don't seem to have a problem finding scraps for the worms, compost, and chooks......there are always weeds, leftovers etc plus the worms can have things the chooks don't have tea bags and egg shells! It is amazing what can be pulled together! I thought it would be much harder than it is!

I have 4 chooks and they eat all the scraps we give them and go looking for more - they are more like pigs with feathers. We also give them their egg shells back - just crushed - it helps provide them with needed calcium to produce good egg shells for the next egg.

Finding more scraps shouldn't be too much of a problem - we just dont waste a lot so will need to find another source of scraps.
