I can't grow them because the frost gets mine. I have a couple of pathetic specimens that don't flower. Perhaps now they've moved the sand dunes at the top of our street well get more sun and we won't be in such a cold valley.

Wow it's amazing the climatic differences a few kilometers can make! Perhaps being that little bit closer to the coast and on top a hill keeps us mostly frost free.

Cut back the 'roo paws a little while back, near enough to 2 m tall! Not sure if I should dig it up and try to divide it now?

Funny looking mandarins lol
I reckon now is a good time to divide kangaroo paws or cut them to ground level. They will spring back quickly with this beautiful autumn weather.

If I was dividing them, should I also cut them off at ground level?

Yeah, I would. Trim the roots and the tops to a small fan if potting or just reduce the foliage and divide the clump. Water with Seasol solution and pethaps add something like a slow release Osmocote.

Not sure of the total as I have them in various corners of the yard - maybe 10 or so Jap and 6 butternuts. I'm disappointed my crown of thorns gourds only got to the size of oranges then shrivelled up :(

Ive always wanted to grow them too and spaghetti squash which arent performing currently. We have tons of butternuts at the shop and the vine is ginormous with many pumpkins. Maybe next year will be successful.

Love a butterednut - was great last night as roast pumpkin and couscous salad :thumb:

Just finished dividing the roo paw - 25 potted, 10 straight into the garden, seasol applied.

Hopefully get a good surviaval rate as I just looooooove free plants
