Although I would expect the motor to start, regardless...

For the average user you should not need to ever top up the gearbox oil and I would be surprised if the oil did not outlast the engine or the gearbox itself. Once the gearbox is filled I would not worry about it again unless I saw there was a leak from the shaft seal.

:sad2: Still not going,Gaz. I took it to work and no luck getting it going. Will take it back to Masters tomorrow minus Auger and minus packing as it is at the farm and see if someone there has any luck. Can you believe, I have looked everywhere for the reciept. There are a thousand sitting on this bench mostly from Liquorland :scared2: and thats probably why it has been misplaced. Put in a safe place never to remember where!! Hope they accept credit statement

Thanks Charlie I had done all that with no luck. Took it to Masters and two of the tradies tried to start it and they said no way was it going to crank and to give me a new one so will try this one out before I go all the way to farm. Stay tuned and thank you all for your input

:joy: Good news, This one works. Still took a bit of yanking but got it going. I think the instruction manual is a bit dodgy also :learn:  Anyway will have to wait now till I can try it out although I could have a competition with the dog out the back here to see who can dig the biggest hole before the decking gets completed :thumb:

Not as easy as I would have liked, Gaz. Lucky those bags of expanded clay have increased from 45 litres to 50 litres and will give my muscles a better workout!! You should have seen those two burly blokes trying to start it yesterday. One holding it down while the other pulled the cord. If they had got it started and said there is nothing wrong with it I would have had to bring up the fact that it is meant to be easy start by one person and if they would like to live in my shed and start it up for me forever then we have a deal :bat:

 Too true Faye and I have you to blame for this purchase. (But in a good way) Had the Friday gone to plan moving that system in the afternoon I would have been well and truly saved from the shops but as I was near all the exciting shops I decided to have a browse. I went to your favorite(not) HN and asked what the best deal they could do. They were advertising on radio and catalogues for $778. He told me the best price was $820 :swear:  $40 more than they were advertising. Pffft! I walked straight out. Good old JB did it for $750 plus a cover so SOLD. Now I am really mobile!! :thumb: Still got my Learners though :learn:

Well the new auger is a wizz. Managed to get two posts in and no colourful language required. Holes to depth of 800mm and 200mm diameter.
